I always love this time of year. I just can't wait to get out the icicle lights and start decorating my house. It's a little early, but this year, I think we could all use the extra cheer.

I'll be worried that people won't put lights up this year because of the

In other words, if the ad says the storewide holiday discounts kick off on a Wednesday, don't wait until Wednesday to rush to the store.

Not as many as the number that used to, I'm sure. @*#&$^ global warming.

Thanks for the tips. I don't buy holiday gifts typically. My friends and I abstain willingly and just spend time together and all of my and Steve's family don't get gifts from us because the $1,200-$1,500 we spend going home for the holidays every year negates that. It's been that way for 10 years and it's just understood. Yay for no shopping. :)

Annie - Near my parents' house is a little cottage with more decorations
than house. It's truly hideous, but at the same time...I'd be sad if they
didn't do it every year.

Alsoha - I hate shopping for gifts...but I like getting them. So it
balances out, I think. Still, that's a great idea!

I try to get all of my shopping done BEFORE Thanksgiving. If I do it in the beginning of November, it's just so much easier than fighting traffic and worrying I might not find the right thing at the last minute. I love giving gift baskets - fruit of the month kind of thing...

That house was a bot of overkill, but I bet the kids love seeing it when they drive by !

I have been patiently waiting to put up the new Christmas lights my wife bought last year the night before the "Big Sales". We got a great deal on them and a brand new set of new lights to go on the new house for this year. I can't wait.
